Focused on helping families eat right at affordable prices, Target introduced Archer Farms Simply Balanced, a line extension off its premium Archer Farms line.
The new food line is built around better-for-you nutrition that’s budget friendly and includes more than 70 products such as pasta, cereal, bread, crackers, granola bars and frozen pizza. New products and flavors include pomegranate fruit bars, butternut squash and apple soup, Mediterranean-style vegetable pizza and whole-wheat pasta.
Prices for the new products range from $1.48 for whole-wheat pasta to $5.49 for chicken skewers. Other featured items include Almond Fiber Crunch Breakfast Cereal retailing for $3.99, while Dark Chocolate Cherry Healthy Snack Bars are $2.49 per box. An entrée/dinner kit of Garlic & Ranch Primavera, which serves five, retails for $4.49.
All products in the line are free of artificial flavorings and sweeteners, synthetic colors and have zero grams trans fats, according to a company statement.
Each product contains no more than 30 percent of calories from fat, a maximum of 10 percent calories from saturated fat and no more than 25 percent of calories from added sugar. Although Target said it “keeps tabs on the sodium content” it did not disclose sodium amounts or caps.
To make it easier for shoppers to see and evaluate the nutritional content, Target has placed nutrition labels on the front of the product packaging.
