With profits up 13 percent as frugal shoppers continue to search for bargains, Family Dollar said it plans to expand its store brands offerings over the next two to three years, according to a Reuters report.
Bucking the overall declining retail sales trend across the country, Family Dollar earned $60.1 million in the fourth quarter ended August 29, compared to $53.2 million in the same year-ago quarter.
The dollar store chain, which sells most of its merchandise for under $10,has been remerchandising its stores to include more store brands and food, which it says will help it drive net sales growth of 5 to 7 percent this fiscal year.
