In order to improve efficiency of its store brand packaging design and printing processes, Wal-Mart has installed Sun Brand Technologies’ Odin brand management software across its fresh produce, grocery and health and beauty lines, according to a Planet Retail report.

The retailer is using the technology in Asda, its U.K. subsidiary, to boost speed to shelf and reduce costs by file sharing online, which minimizes project management errors, and eliminates duplication.

In the U.S., Wal-Mart is already using the software for its Marketside line of fresh prepared foods and produce, and its Equate health and beauty care store brand line, according to the report. It plans to expand usage to other store brand categories during the course of the year.

"The digitalization of artwork amends has vastly improved the speed at which sign-off is achieved and maximizes the number of changes we are capable of handling across the whole brand," an unnamed Wal-Mart spokesperson told Planet Retail.
