Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix Super Markets issued a voluntary recall of four varieties of its store brand seasoning mixes over concerns the packages could be contaminated with salmonella.
Manufactured with HVP (hydrolyzed vegetable protein) supplied by Basic Food Flavors of Las Vegas, the company said its mixes could be contaminated by tainted HVP.
“As part of our commitment to food safety, potentially impacted product has been removed from all store shelves,” said Maria Brous, Publix media and community relations director. “To date, there have been no reported cases of illness. Consumers who have purchased the products in question may return the product to their local store for a full refund.”
The recalled products include all lot codes for Publix Mushroom Gravy Mix, 0.75-ounces; Publix Meatloaf Seasoning, 1-ounce; Publix Beef Flavored Stew Mix, 1.45-ounce and Publix Au Jus Gravy Mix, 1-ounce.
