Walmart launched its new housewares and home decor store brand, called Hometrends, which includes bedding, bath, dining, furniture and home decorating accessories.
Available in most stores and online, Hometrends products are available in a variety of colors and contemporary patterns a well as nature-inspired materials and finishes.
“From bold toss pillows and area rugs to fashion-forward accents, Hometrends makes it possible for anyone to transform a room with the latest styles for less,” Walmart said in a prepared statement.
On the company web site customers can redesign virtual living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms using the new Hometrends products.
“The Hometrends line helps Walmart provide an affordable solution for customers who crave great style but don’t want to break the bank to achieve it,” said Karen Stuckey, senior vice president of home at Walmart. “By offering the colors and the trends of the moment, Walmart enables do-it-yourself decorators to embrace their creativity to dramatically change a room with ease, confidence, and minimal investment.”
In other Walmart store brand news, its Superama chain in Mexico has expanded its Extra Special premium store brand to now include pastries, natural juice and ice cream. In 2008, the brand was introduced with 19 SKUs in three categories -- cookies, vegetables and pizza.
The Extra Special gourmet line is Canadian-made and inspired by a premium line offered at Walmart’s U.K. Asda division, according to a Planet Retail report.
