ConAgra Foods acquired Elan Nutrition, a privately held manufacturer of snack and nutrition bars, which will be integrated into the company’s store brands business. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Con Agra’s store brands unit primarily makes cereal and snack bars. Elan Nutrition, owned by an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners Inc. since 2003, “will allow ConAgra Foods to grow its private label bar business through new product development capabilities and manufacturing capacity,” the company said in a statement.
Included in the deal is Elan Nutrition's manufacturing facility in Grand Rapids, Mich., which will now operate as a ConAgra Foods plant.
"We are confident in the growth potential of this important category and expect a smooth integration of Elan Nutrition's business and capabilities into our Snacks platform," said Gary Rodkin, CEO of ConAgra Foods
ConAgra manufactures private label bars at its Lakeville, Minn. Facility and “will not impacted by this acquisition and will continue to operate as normal.”
