Duane Reade Debuts Green Store Brand Products

New York drug chain Duane Reade introduces organic and environmentally friendly store brand products, and launches the EcoClub loyalty program to reward shoppers for green purchases, according to a Supermarket News report.
For every dollar spent, shoppers will earn two points in the EcoClub, which the chain operates under the chain’s FlexRewards program. When environmentally friendly products are purchase, EcoClub members receive double points. For every 500 points earned, shoppers in both programs receive a $5 bonus to spend in the store.
New store brand that qualify as eco-friendly include Apt. 5 line products such as Apt. 5 100% Degradable Trash Bag; Apt. 5 75% tree-free facial and bath tissue, and Apt. 5 stainless steel, BPA-free bottles, according to the report.
Other Duane Reade store brands slated for roll out this week include DR Delish organic salsa, wheat crackers, seltzer and gluten-free ginger snaps.
