Hannaford and Bloom Recall Store Brand Frozen Shrimp

June 17, 2010
Hannaford Supermarkets and Bloom voluntarily recalled store brand frozen fish purchased from Eastern Fish because the products may contain undeclared sulfites.
Included in the recall are frozen raw extra jumbo shrimp in 16-ounce packages, as well as the same shrimp merchandised in its deli cased.
The products are labeled from Mexico and were sold between May 4 and June 4 at Hannaford locations, and from April 8 to June 4 at Bloom grocery stores. Both grocers are owned and operated by Delhaize America.
The North Carolina Department of Agriculture discovered the problem during a routine product-sampling test and notified Bloom when it found sulfites in the shrimp.
Teaneck, N.J. based Eastern Fish is working closely with the FDA to resolve the problem.
