Ralcorp Buys Three Bakery Companies

Less than a week after making a $1.2 billion acquisition of American Italian Pasta Company, Ralcorp Holdings announced three other acquisition –– North American Baking, JT Bakeries and Sepp's Gourmet Foods.
North American Baking, formerly known as PL Foods, manufactures premium store brand specialty crackers. Sepp's Gourmet Foods Ltd., manufacturers frozen breakfast foods for the retail and foodservice sectors with annual net sales of approximately $29.3 million.
Ralcorp also acquired JT Bakeries, a manufacturer of private label and co-branded gourmet crackers based in Kitchener, Ontario. Terms of the transactions were not disclosed.
Kevin Hunt, co-CEO and president of Ralcorp said the acquisitions will enhance Ralcorp's premium and gourmet cracker and frozen bakery product offerings. “These transactions will allow us to continue Ralcorp's growth strategy on our existing private-label cracker platform," he said.Sepp's, will continue its operations in Delta, British Columbia and in Richmond Hill, Ontario.
Ralcorp produces Post branded cereals, a variety of value brand and store brand foods sold under the individual labels of various grocery, mass merchandise and drugstore retailers, and frozen bakery products sold to in-store bakeries, restaurants and other foodservice customers.
