Walmart's and Great Kitchens' BBQ Pizzas Recalled

Great Kitchens Inc., a private label manufacturer and maker of Walmart’s Marketside pizzas, issued a recall for nearly 110,000 pounds of BBQ chicken pizza product sold mostly at Walmart stores.
The affected products were produced by the Romeoville, Ill.-based company on June 15 and 16. Great Kitchens discovered small pieces of plastic during production of the product, which prompted the recall, according to the Food & Drug Administration.
The recall has been classified by the FDA as “low health risk,” adding that there were no reported injuries or consumer complaints associated with the product prior to recall.
Last July, Wal-Mart announced it was testing in some of its U.S. discount stores the sale of Marketside branded foods, which were originally developed for the discounter's small-format fresh prepared food concept tested in Phoenix.
In November 2009, the company began a full role out of the Marketside store brand including produce, bakery and deli, which included 12 varieties of soups, 13 take and bake pizza varieties and six chef-inspired family meals.
