A new twist on the age-old buy-one-get-one-free supermarket promotion, Hannaford launched a Buy 1 Give 1 store brand product to engage customers to help feed the hungry.
Kicked off this week, the program flags key private label items in the store each week thorough December, and for each eligible item customers purchase Hannaford will donate an identical item to a regional food bank.
This week, for example 10.75 oz. cans of Hannaford Tomato Soup are flagged for the promotion, according to the company’s Twitter and Facebook pages.
The company also dedicated a special page on its web site to the many ways customers can help feed the hungry during the holiday season, including purchasing Helping Hands boxes that's filled with the essentials food pantries need the most, including some store brands as well. “We'll deliver them straight to your local food pantry and give you a valuable coupon book in return.”
