December 21, 2010
Safeway launched five new salsa flavors and three varieties of dips under its Signature Café brand, just weeks after it introduced it Snack Artist line of chips.
New salsa flavors include Salsa Fresca, a traditional Mexican recipe of tomatoes, onions, peppers and cilantro available in mild, medium or hot; Triple Roasted Salsa, which combines chunky roasted peppers, tomatoes, cilantro, roasted garlic, and spices with a medium heat level; Salsa Fuego, a fiery puree of tomatillos, tomato, chiles, and peppers; Salsa Verde, which blends grilled tomatillos, peppers, cilantro, jalapenos, garlic and spices in a traditional green, mild salsa; and Creamy Tomatillo Salsa, a mild and creamy blend of tomatillos, avocados, jalapenos, onions, and garlic.
New dip flavors include Queso Dip, a creamy cheesy base with tomatoes, green chiles and jalapenos; Artichoke with Spinach Dip, a cheesy blend of artichoke hearts and spinach; and Cucumber & Dill Greek Style Yogurt Dip, a ”refreshing companion to a crudité platter or as a dollop on a pita sandwich,” the grocer suggested on its blog.
“Be sure to pair your salsas with our new Snack Artist chips,” the blog continued. “And don’t forget to pick up SELECT Artisan baguette to serve with the Artichoke Spinach dip. Happy (easy) Holidays!”
