Private Label Promo to Award Winners Free Groceries for a Year

February 1, 2011
Price Chopper customers who purchase 10 store brands using their loyalty cards are automatically entered in a sweepstakes contest to win free groceries for a year.
The Schenectady, N.Y.– based company will randomly select winners every two weeks through April 16. All of the company’s store brands are eligible including Price Chopper, Central Market Classics, Price Chopper Naturals, Full Circle, Clear Value and Top Care.
“The products can be from any department of the store and you can mix and match between the brands — as long as you buy 10 total items per period, you’ll be entered to win,” Price Chopper stated in its promotional materials. Shoppers are limited to six entries per every two-week period in the sweepstakes, according to the published rules.
SBD Views: This is an innovative promotion that will both get the attention of Price Chopper’s shoppers and drive store brands share. I like the way it’s tied into their loyalty card giving Price Chopper added shopper insights that will be valuable for future programs. -- John Failla for Store Brands Decisions
