J & J Snack Foods Corp. has entered into an agreement to acquire the frozen handheld business of ConAgra Foods for an undisclosed price.
The business sells dough-enrobed products sold under the Patio, Hand Fulls, Holly Ridge Bakery, Villa Italiano, Top Picks and private label brands with manufacturing facilities in Holly Ridge, N.C. and Weston, Ore. The deal is expected to close in May.
Pennsauken, N.J.–based, J&J Snacks said that it does not expect the acquired business to contribute operating income to the company over the short term. The ConAgra frozen handheld business is currently generating annual sales of approximately $50 million.
“We are excited about this opportunity. This is a fine line of products that will expand our portfolio of brands to existing and new venues,” said Gerald B. Shreiber, president and CEO of J&J Snacks.
J&J has three manufacturing facilities in New Jersey, three in Pennsylvania, three in Connecticut and one each in Carrollton, Texas; Atlanta, Georgia; Moscow Mills, Mo.; and Pensacola, Fla.
