Kroger Recognizes Outstanding Store Brands Suppliers

The Kroger Co. recognizing a dozen supplier partners for their contributions to the company’s store brands business, with top honors going to McCormick & Co. and Re:GENERATE Design.
McCormick & Co. received the Outstanding Innovator Award for its collaborative and customer-focused approach to product development. “McCormick has been a key Kroger partner for spices and extracts for many years, and the company continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to quality and innovation in product development, Kroger said in a statement.
Re:GENERATE Design received the Outstanding Design Agency Award for its role in updating and redesigning the Kroger brand. “The design firm’s experience in retail brand development and its razor-sharp design strategy were key factors in the program’s success,” the grocer noted.
Both top awards are new to Kroger’s Supplier of the Year Awards, which began in 1990, to recognize unique contributions, according to the company.
“Our Supplier of the Year Awards recognize partners that support Kroger’s commitment to give shoppers an extensive selection of quality products at good prices,” said Linda Severin, Kroger’s vice president of corporate brands. “We thank all of these award recipients for embracing the spirit of our ‘Customer 1st’ strategy and helping us drive innovation and excellence in our Kroger brands.”
Following are the other 2011 Supplier of the Year Awards by category: Deli: Campbell Soup Co.; Deli/Bakery: Maple Leaf Bakery; Drug/GM: Diversified Distribution; Drug/GM: G&S Metal Products Co. Inc.; Floral: Nature’s Flowers; Meat: Birchwood Foods; Natural Foods: Prime Choice Foods; Produce: Taylor Farms Inc.; Seafood: Trans-Ocean Products Inc.;
The following Kroger-operated manufacturing facilities were also recognized by the company’s corporate brands team for outstanding quality, reliability and customer service in the grocery category -- America’s Beverage Co., Springdale Ice Cream & Beverage and Layton Dairy
Kroger’s store bands portfolio includes thousands of items under the Private Selection, HomeSense, Comforts and Mirra brands, as well as others.
