At Wakefern Food Corp.’s ShopRite stores customers can earn digital coupons for private label products by playing an online game.
This week for example, players of the “Looks Can Be Deceiving” game can earn a 55-cent coupon for one of ShopRite’s private label cereals. The digital coupons are loaded onto shopper’s loyalty cards.

The theme of the game is not to judge people or products based solely on appearances. Shoppers are asked to look at whacky photos of people and guess what their profession is based on multiple-choice responses.
Finally, a box of ShopRite cereal is displayed asking players if the product is great tasting, inexpensive, nutritionally balanced or all of the above.
No matter how the question is answered, it is correct, and the following message pops up: “ShopRite Cereals aren't just an inexpensive breakfast, they're a great-tasting way to start your morning and are nutritionally comparable to the national cereal brands.” At this time, players can retrieve their digital coupon or continue playing the game.
