Amazon has hired popular publishing veteran Laurence Kirshbaum to head a new general interest imprint (private label publishing), which will focus on  fiction and non-fiction titles in print and digital formats, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

Kirshbaum will begin working for Amazon in July. In recent weeks Amazon launched two other imprints focused on mystery and romance and said it is interested in a wide range of topics.

An Amazon Spokeswoman said: “We’re happy to confirm that Larry Kirshbaum has accepted the role of vice president and publisher of Amazon Publishing’s New York office.”
