The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company Inc. launched a line of premium-quality Angus beef just prior to Memorial Day weekend. The new line, Woodson & James Choice Angus Beef, is exclusive to A&P banner stores A&P, Pathmark, Superfresh, Waldbaum's and The Food Emporium.
The line replaced the current beef steak and roast offerings and features grain-fed and single-sourced USDA Choice Angus Beef. A&P’s supplier is National Beef, and the company said the switch to a single source can guarantee shoppers consistently higher-quality beef at its everyday low prices.
"These tasty and tender new meats are ideal for summer grilling," said Tom O'Boyle, Executive Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing. "We are confident that our customers will agree Woodson & James is the ultimate beef eating experience."
In-store support for the new meat offering includes new in-store Woodson & James signage. Associates from meat departments, wearing Woodson & James aprons, will offer simple preparation and cooking tips, as well as information about the new beef line.
On the Web a Woodson & James' website at www.woodsonandjames.com offers beef recipes and cooking tips.
"A&P's significant effort to upgrade its beef offerings, while keeping prices affordable, demonstrates our continued commitment to delivering enhanced value to our customers," said Harry Giglio, Vice President of Meat & Seafood. "With our exclusive new line of Woodson & James steaks and roasts, shoppers no longer need to sacrifice quality in order to stay within their budgets and provide delicious meals for their families."
A&P operates 361 stores in eight states and the District of Columbia under the following trade names: A&P, Waldbaum's, Pathmark, Best Cellars, The Food Emporium, Super Foodmart, Superfresh and Food Basics.
