Grocers Heat Up Spring and Summer PL Marketing Programs

Private label marketing takes center stage this season at A&P and Schnucks.

Ac grocery lineMontvale, N.J.-based A&P gave away $12 coupon booklets for a variety of America’s Choice products to help round out spring entertaining, including condiments, ice cream, and a variety of paper products. The coupon booklets were given away for free at store checkouts through the month of May.

Schnucks meanwhile is offering shoppers a chance to win between $100 and $5,000 for private label products found discovered in their homes through the “Schnucks Brand Adventure” contest.

The 90-store St. Louis chain’s eligible brands include Schnucks, Culinaria, Schnucks Select, Chef’s Express, Full Circle, Top Care, Valu Time, Paws, World Classics, Academix, Domestix, Easyclix and Electrix.

Culinaria imagesShopper entry forms are available in stores and must be completed, mailed and received by June 19. Schnucks will randomly select eight winners, one from each market it serves.

Winners will be notified the day the “Prize Patrol” visits their home. Once contact is made by telephone, the winner has 30 minutes to meet the Prize Patrol at his/her home. Home visits are schedule Monday through Friday between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday are scheduled between 9 a.m. and noon, according to the web site.
