Social Media to Expand Reach of the Innovation & Marketing Summit

When the Store Brands Decisions Innovation & Marketing Summit kicks off July 18, many conversations will take place, and thanks to social media coverage, event attendees and readers who can’t make it to the event can join the conversations online.

IMS logo imageStore Brands Decisions will use the latest social media platforms to extend the discussion beyond the Chicago O’Hare Intercontinental Hotel using Twitter, LinkedIn and a live blog on the website. One benefit is it will provide a forum for Summit’s attendees -- and those who can’t make it -- to discuss the important issues raised. But the campaign will also provide an educational experience for all Store Brands Decisions’ readers.

The techniques applied are grounded in the same methods used by consumer goods marketers to gain attention from today’s social media savvy consumers. Store Brands Decisions invites you to engage with the campaign not just for Summit discussion, but also to expand your social media knowledge and experience in general.

The Summit coverage on Twitter has already started. Using the Store Brands Decisions Twitter feed, updates on the show are posted using at http://twitter.com/store_brands using a special hashtag of #sbdevent. This simple code can be used by anyone who wants to share news or opinions about the Summit and topics discussed. All participants have to do is include these characters in their own tweets.

SBD Twitter feed imageTo help readers find these tweets, the website is displaying a running live feed of #sbdevent tweets on its pages (see the lower right corner of the web site that looks like the image at left) from now through the event.

Readers can also keep an eye on this conversation using their own Twitter account by doing a Twitter search on #sbdevent) or with third-party applications like TweetDeck. And don’t be shy about using it yourself. It’s a great way to share your own news and views with Summit attendees, whether you will be joining us or sharing from your home or office.

Live Blog
To provide more substantial coverage than is possible within Twitter’s 140-character limit, once the Summit begins on July 18, Store Brands Decisions will provide a live blog that will report activity and news as it happens. The blog will be on the website home page and will be updated every few minutes, throughout the event (July 18-19), and will remain on the site after the event.

Visitors are encouraged to take part in the conversation here, too, by posting comments directly on the blog article pages, or mention them with the Twitter #sbdevent hashtag to reach the world of Twitter.

LinkedIn Forum
Finally, LinkedIn will provide a forum for continuing the conversation after the Summit is over. The Store Brands Decisions LinkedIn group  will be a place where attendees can connect with other attendees and engage in discussions.
