Lubbock, Texas-based United Supermarkets is expanded its private label beverage offerings with two new wines created by local Llano Estacado Winery under the Outlaw Anthem label.
The wines -- one red and one white -- are made with grapes grown locally in western Texas. “I think we hit a homerun with these two wines,” said Llano Estacado Winery’s Steve duToit. “We believe we have a premium product at a value price on our hands.”
This is the Llano Estacado’s first private label product and the partnership with United Supermarket included two blends. The Outlaw Anthem Heartbreaker, a blend of primarily zinfandel and carignane grapes, and the Outlaw Anthem Wanted!, a blend of chenin blanc, viognier and sauvignon blanc grapes. Both wines will retail for $9.99 and are positioned as premium products at value prices sold exclusively at all 10 Market Street stores and select United Supermarkets locations.
“We are thrilled to be able to expand our relationship with Llano Estacado Winery and to be their first private label partner,” said Roger Scott, category manager for United Supermarkets. “Both these wines exhibit the very high standards and skill of the Llano winemaking team, and it is our privilege to be chosen as the first retailer for this type of venture.”
Earlier this summer, United Supermarkets expanded its store brands wine offering with the addition of three new Market Street wines and the Patio brand sangria. The moscato red and white table wines are marketed under the Farm to Market brand for $9.99 each, while the Patio Sangria is $6.99, collaboration with McPherson Cellars Winery and winemaker Kim McPherson.
Family-owned, United Supermarkets operate 50 stores under the United Supermarkets, Market Street and Amigos United banners. United has 14 different store brands including the Food Club, Top Care and Full Circle.
