With outstanding entries in all four categories of the Store Brands Decisions 2nd Annual Retailer Innovation Awards, Safeway was named Retail Innovator of the Year and will be recognized at an awards ceremony and reception next month, along with 16 other retailers who won category awards.
Retailers from nearly every channel of trade, and their winning entries, will be recognized at the event, including 7-Eleven, Ahold USA, BJ's Wholesale Club, Delhaize America, Fresh Market, Kroger Company, OfficeMax, Roundy's Supermarkets, Sam's Club, Smart & Final, Spartan Stores, Target, Topco, Walmart, Whole Foods Market and Winn-Dixie.
Judges of the Store Brands Decisions 2nd annual Innovation Awards were Doug Palmer, DAPCO Inc.; Tom Stephens, Brand Strategy Consultants Inc.; Steve Howell, The Austin Clark Group; and Store Brands Decisions. This year, Store Brands Decisions used an upgraded web-enabled solution to facilitate nomination entries, judging and contest administration.
“We were pleased with the response from the industry last year and were thrilled this year with the 40 percent increase in nominations,” said Failla, founder and president of Store Brands Decisions. “We want to thank our judges who made a significant time commitment to help us review and evaluate the large number of entries we received. All of our guest judges have significant high-level retail store brands experience, which was invaluable to the judging process.”
All 17 retail winners will be recognized at a cocktail reception and ceremony Nov. 14 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel during the PLMA Show. GROUP360 Worldwide is the presenting sponsor of the program.
“We look forward to a great event next month where we will announce and congratulate all the winners in person, and appreciate GROUP360 Worldwide’s support of the program for the second consecutive year” Failla said.
