Sam’s Club’s new store brands are getting a little extra attention in the pet care aisle with a promotion designed to drive awareness of the Simply Right line in the pet care category.
In honor of Adopt-a-Dog Month in October, Sam’s Club is pledging $20,000 of Simply Right pet food, supplies and Sam’s Club gift cards to four U.S. animal shelters in need of support following recent natural disasters. The pet food is part of Sam’s Club’s new private label line of pet care products.
“By donating pet food, supplies and support to local animal shelters in recovery following a natural disaster, Sam’s Club hopes to alleviate the burden of the event on animals, shelter managers and owners whose pets may have been displaced in the disasters,” said Maurice Markey, vice president of proprietary brands for Sam’s Club.
Recipients of the donations include Austin Pets Alive! and Austin Humane Society, Liberty Humane Society in Jersey City, N.J. and SPCA of Luzerne County in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.)
Simply Right debuted at Sam’s Club in June and, in addition to pet care, features health and wellness essentials including baby care products, vitamins and supplements, pharmacy OTC products, and health and beauty care. The label is described as “dedicated to provide healthful, gentle, and safe personal care products for the entire family.”
The store brand is part of the retailer’s nearly two-year rollout of new private label products that also includes the Artisan Fresh and Daily Chef brands. Simply Right is replacing the Member’s Mark brand in pet care.
