Bi-Rite Market has debuted a new line of prepared private label products called Public Label featuring locally sourced produce and ingredients.

The single-store San Francisco market is a proponent of the slow food movement that prizes local, simple and in season foods over processed fast foods. The new packaged items include jams and pickles made with produce from local farms and created from the shop’s own recipes, according to the San Francisco Gate. Some products are made in-house while others are produced in partnership with Happy Girl Kitchen and Community Action Marin Foodworks, reports the Gate.

The new private label products join Bi-Rite’s store brands of house-made deli and baked goods, and a line of "curated" private label products such as olive oil and wine. This new effort is meant to "turn the private label on its head by sharing where the ingredients are from," Kirsten Bourne, the company's marketing director told the newspaper.

Products include a kohlrabi sauerkraut and a strawberry jam. The products are available on a limited basis, but will be rotated with other seasonal preserves and condiments like pluot jam, pickles and tomato sauce, reported the Gate. Prices for Bi-Rite Public Label range $9 to $12 for 10- to 16-ounce jars.
