Pennsylvania-based Wawa is joining the growing list of retailers offering single-serve K-cup store brand coffee.

Wawa K-cup imageThe convenience store chain, known for its fresh-brewed private label coffee, has introduced Wawa Single Cup Coffee compatible with the Keurig brewing system. The coffee cups are now available in Original and 100% Colombian.

Wawa’s signature store brand coffee was introduced in the 1970s, and now ranks as one of the chain’s most popular products. A proprietary, private label blend, it’s available only at Wawa stores.

Green Mountain is manufacturer of Green Mountain branded coffee and makes both the Keurig coffee machine and holds the patents on the single-serve K-Cups. Those patents expired in September and retailers were quick to introduce private label versions of the coffee pods.

Earlier this month Costco Warehouse Club announced it had partnered with Green Mountain Coffee Roasters to produce Kirkland Signature K-Cup packs for Keurig single cup brewers. Kroger, Safeway and Supervalu all launched private label single-serve coffee pods compatible with Keurig coffee machines in the past several months.
